The whole country has been feeding on the gory details of the rape and murder of 26 year old veterinary doctor Priyanka Reddy over the past two days and after the four arrested men confessed to how they 'planned and executed' the whole thing out, the entire nation has been left gut-wrenched.
Dr. Potula Priyanka Reddy from Telengana was returning from a dermatologist visit on Wednesday evening, when she found her two-wheeler parked at the Tondupalli toll plaza with a flat tyre. According to the police, Mohammed Arif (26), a truck driver and cleaners J Shiva, and J Naveen, and C Chennakeshavulu alias Chenna noticed Reddy parking her two-wheeler before and had deliberately let the air-out from her tyre to trap her.
"When Priyanka returned from Gachibowli at 9.18 pm, Arif told her about the flat tyre and offered help, to which she innocently agreed. He sent Shiva to fill air in the tyre,” adding that it was at this time that Priyanka called her sister and talked about her situation.
The victim is then said to have been dragged to an open compound and raped by the four men one after the other and the forcibly held hand of Arif over the victim's mouth and nose, smothered her to death by 10.08 pm. The charred body of the veterinary assistant surgeon was found Thursday morning.
Film industry personalities who have been demanding these arrests ever since, have now spoken out on these repeated incidents of rape, gang-rape and murder of women across India and they have joined the rest of the nation in wanting these inhumane incidents to stop.
Whether it is #PriyankaReddy in Hyderabad, #Roja in Tamil Nadu or the law student gangraped in Ranchi,we seem to be losing it as a society. It has been 7 yrs to the gut-wrenching #Nirbhaya case & our moral fabric continues to be in pieces. We need stricter laws. This needs to STOP!

So furious. Wonder if there's any safe place whatsoever. Tragic to see women victimised every day. Capital punishment to the guilty is a must. Adequate safety is the need of the hour. Let's not wait for a situation to become an emergency.#JusticeForPriyankaReddy

Men rape women. Other men get online and threaten to rape women for not making enough noise about the rape. What do you want losers? It’s not a communal issue, it’s a gender issue. If you want to make a change, start with yourself. We are raising sons wrong in this country.
