As an additional feather to his musical hat, composer Harris Jayaraj is all set to receive one of the honorary recognitions, the doctorate degree (Doctor of Letters - D Litt). For his exceptional contributions to the world of music, MGR University is conferring Harris with the said doctorate on October 20, 2019.

Harris Jayaraj will receive it alongside other prominent personalities such as the Chief minister of Tamil Nadu Edappadi K Palaniswami, actor-dancer Shobana, G Satheesh Reddy, Chairman of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Secretary of Department of Defence (R&D) and S. Raja Sabapathy, Chairman and Director of Ganga Hospital. 

From the Tamil Film industry, actors Vijay, Vijaykumar and director Shankar among others have received the MGR University doctorate before. "It’s an honour to get the doctorate along with Mr.Satheesh Reddy, Mr Raja Sabapathy, Ms Shobana and our Honourable Chief minister.", shared Harris about the event.
