Suriya-Mohanlal starrer Kaappaan that was released on last Friday (September 20) has registered a decent opening weekend in Tamil Nadu and Kerala box office. Significantly, the film has performed well surpassing the pre-release expectations.

The Chennai box office had a collection of Rs. 3.36 Crore during the first 3-day run and it managed to make a very good opening in Kerala as well. In addition, the film has performed very well in UAE.

Disappointingly, Kaappaan didn’t manage to make a good start in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as it registered a below average opening. It looks like the box office run in Kerala and Tamil Nadu could be steadier for the first week.

With Sivakarthikeyan’s Namma Veettu Pillai hitting screens on this Friday (September 27), we need to wait and watch how the film performs during the forthcoming weekend as it marks a long continuous holiday for Aayutha Pooja as well.
