After Vikram, A.R. Rahman and Vairamuthu, Mani Ratnam's upcoming magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan has one more National award winning addition; Art director Thotta Tharani who has worked with Mani in films like Thalapathy and Nayagan has been roped in as a part of the project's technical crew.
The 10th century story of Ponniyin Selvan, which is about the life of Raja Raja Chola before he became king will be made into a two-part film series by the team and Madras Talkies in association with Lyca Productions is bankrolling the project. The screenplay for the movie has been co-written by actor Elango Kumaravel and it comes with 12 songs.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayaram and Parthiban are the actors who have so far confirmed to be a part of the movie, which is an adaption the Tamil novel by Kalki Krishnamoorthy.
