At a time when it is expected that Kamal Haasan will resume shooting for Indian 2 from August, 2019 (and will continue the project alongside his other magnum opus, Thalaivan Irukkindraan), reports of new cast being added to Indian 2 have surfaced. Actress Aishwarya Rajesh and Priya Bhavani Shankar are said to be roped in for important roles in the Shankar directorial, along with Vidyut Jammwal who famously played the villain in Vijay's Thuppakki. 

Indian 2 will be Jammwal's third film in Tamil after Thuppakki and Anjaan and the actor has even started learning Kalaripayatu, a martial art form from Kerala that was an important part in Indian as well. 

Indian 2 is the sequel to the 1996 super-hit film Indian which followed the life of a vigilante named Senapathy, who was against corruption. The sequel is expected to bring him back, this time to fight the fight against politicians.
