We had earlier reported that an announcement on Thalapathy 64, Vijay's next film is expected to be made on June 22, 2019 i.e. the actor's birthday. Recently, images of the team gathered for this project made its way into social media and they confirm the core technical team assembled for this film.

As per previous speculations, Thalapathy 64 will be directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj who has Tamil thriller Maanagaram and upcoming Karthi starrer Kaithi to his credit. The film will have music by Anirudh and Xavier Britto and his wife Vimala Britto as producers.

New names that have been revealed to be a part of team Thalapathy 64 are cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan and editor Philomin Raj. Names of Female lead and the rest of the cast and crew are expected to be revealed on June 22, 2019.

Buzz is that Thalapathy 64 will be a gangster drama, to be shot in a quick span unlike Vijay's usual 1 film per year plan. Actress Rashmika Mandanna was the name last associated as this film's female lead, though there have been no confirmations on the same.
