8 Most Expected Tamil Movies of 2019

The year 2019 provided a very good kick-start for Tamil Cinema, in terms of two star biggies Petta and Viswasam clashing and making the most of it. Since their run is now over at the box-office, MovieCrow decided to bring to you next set of expected films of Tamil cinema, which are also the prospects in keeping this success momentum going.
 
It is worth mentioning here that the industry has high hopes for these following 8 films, both commercially and critically. Also since Rajinikanth's film with Murugadoss and Kamal Haasan, Shankar's Indian 2 are probably not releasing this year because of their respective production stages, they have not been included in this list.
 
8.Asuran

A movie which has Dhanush and master story-teller Vetrimaaran for the fourth time and that too immediately after their recent hit Vadachennai, Asuran has made quite the waves in terms of expectation. Dhanush's new look and the biopic-period theme of the film has only added to the curiosity surrounding the film.

7.Kappaan

Actor Suriya and director K.V. Anand who have gives us content like Ayan and Maattraan are returning once again and Suriya's dual role, the big star team (Mohanlal, Harris Jayaraj, Lyca Productions) and the central theme of their story (involving National Security Guard and a Prime Minister) promises everything that one would expect from a big commercial vehicle. And with the director's reputation, Kappaan is an expected bang for the buck.
 
6.Kaithi

Managaram fame Lokesh Kanagaraj's Kaithi raised eyebrows with its first look poster, which was a blood shed transformation of Karthi's image with the jail-cell theme. The absence of a leading lady and the director;s description of his project as a emotional action thriller has piqued interest among buffs.
 
5.Nerkonda Paarvai

Ajith is following-up the blockbuster success of Viswasam with the remake of Pink, which is a court-room drama. A commercial star with one of the strongest fan-bases in Tamil Nadu, taking on a social topic like sexual harassment in a non-commercial film is being seen as a welcome move and has raised interests.

4.Dhruva Natchathiram
James Bond type spy-thriller films are rare in Tamil Cinema. While this Gautham Menon directorial has struggled to find its financial footing, trade assures the film might get released by the end of this year. The stylish aesthetic of the film made privy to viewers through promotional content, assures that this film will get most attention whenever it releases.

3.Super Deluxe

The hype surrounding Super Deluxe makes it hard to believe that Thyagaraja Kumararajan has only one film for his credit which released 8 years ago. The tone of the film's trailer - be it Vijay Sethupathi's trans-role or his solo monologue in it, justified the hype and also prepared the audience for what they were getting into. Besides a few industry bigwigs like Anurag Kashyap who have watched the film only have words of praise for it.
 
2.NGK

Another master story-teller Selvaraghavan is returning with a film on politics and Suriya as the lead. Yuvan Shankar Raja's music for the film is only expected to amplify this highly awaited team-up.
 
1.Thalapathy 63

Vijay's films are always a thing of celebration in Tamil cinema and so it goes without saying that his next with Atlee and A.R. Rahman is as anticipated as the upcoming elections. Vijay dabbing in the sports genre for the first time has his fans even more enthusiastic this time.
