Ajay Devgn’s proposed Hindi remake of Karthik Subbaraj’s 2014 Tamil hit, Jigarthanda may not be materializing anytime soon (with Farhan Akhthar walking out and no actor taking up Siddharth's role and what not) but its Telugu version we hear is all set to go on floors from January, 2019.

Reportedly the Telugu version will be directed by Harish Shankar who last directed Duvvada Jagannadham starring Allu Arjun and Antariksham 9000 KMPH star Varun Tej has been approached for playing Bobby Simha's role in the film. [Bobby Simha got a National Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance of 'Assault Sethu' in this gangster-comedy.]

Jigarthanda is about a young filmmaker who wants to research on the underworld through his interaction with the gangster but ends up casting the gangster as the lead in his film.
