In the wake of MeToo India taking over the film industries of the South, one could witness a lot of suspicion floating around behind the motive of such a movement. As if answering to those suspicions, actor Shanthnu Bhagyaraj shared a video clipping from the movie Vidhi in which his actor-father K. Bhagyaraj had featured.
The clipping was titled #MeToo explained by K. Bhagyaraj and the actor was seen mouthing these lines even way back in 1984.
"Women getting distressed in our country is not a new thing of today. In Ramayana, Ram had doubted Seetha and asked her to jump into the fire (to prove her purity). In Mahabharata, a wife's own husbands placed her as a bet while gambling and lost her. Similiarly Radha being cheated by a man today is a common thing but the girl going to court for the same is something to be appreciated."
Woman Reporter: What is so great about Radha going to court (after getting pregnant out of marriage)?
What is this..you being a woman asking such a question...If Radha had wanted she could have hidden her pregnancy and go married to someone else. But she has gone to court only so no other woman endure the consequences and embarrassment she endured and that this serves as a lesson for other men. Should such a move not be praised?"
Vidhi was a progressive film from the 80s and was about a single woman taking the man who impregnates to court, with the intention of obtaining legitimacy for their 'love child'. Bhagyaraj made a cameo appearance as himself in the film and says these lines when the reporter questions him his opinion on the situation. Watch the video here.
