Palakkad witnessed a grand tribute to legendary singer S. P. Balasubrahmanyam on March 31, as a 10-foot statue sculpted by Unni Kanayi was unveiled at the VT Bhattathiripad Cultural Complex by MM Keeravani and SP Charan.
Kamal Haasan, expressing his emotions, thanked the organisers and called the gesture a testament to SPB’s greatness, recalling their close bond. Rajinikanth described SPB as a “Gaana Gandharva,” sharing an anecdote of the singer performing non-stop for fellow passengers during a flight, highlighting his generosity and passion for music.
The celebrations later moved to Fort Maidan, where thousands attended Sangeetha Megham, a tribute concert organised by the Singers Association of Malayalam Movies, featuring performances by leading artistes in honour of SPB’s legacy.
