Following the objection raised by few fishermen communities, Vada Chennai director Vetrimaaran was seen issuing the following statement a few days ago: "A few scenes, especially the first-night scene on the boat, have been perceived as wrongful depiction of fisherman community. We have decided to remove that scene from the film. We have started to work on the same.."
Now, the said scene which features Ameer and Andreah making love in the middle of the sea has been removed and two other scenes of the couple has been added to the movie. Boats and catamarans are seen as sacred objects by the fishermen community and hence they had objected to the idea of a couple spending their wedding night on it.
They had also objected to the film depicting slum as an area for illegal activities take place and foul-mouthed residents but Vetrimaaran convinced them that the film has been made with the intention of 'entertainment' and not 'smearing'.
