How Rakesh Unni, a rubber plantation worker ended up meeting Kamal Haasan

In the past few days, a video of a man singing the Tamil song Unnai Kaanadhu from Kamal Haasan starrer Vishwaroopam was shared multiple times, after the song's original voice Shankar Mahadevan posted it on his social media page writing,  “This is called fruit of labour! ‪When we hear this, it just makes me feel so so proud of our country that produces so much talent and is so rich in culture,” The identity of the man in the video was then sought after by musicians like Ghibran and Gopi Sunder and was eventually revealed to be Rakesh Unni, a rubber plantation worker from Alapuzha, Kerala.

The finesse of Rakesh's voice was so impressive that actor Kamal Haasan and singer Shankar Mahadevan went the extra mile to make him meet them and later shared a video of him singing in front of them. Now, Rakesh Unni's videos are being shared like crazy and it wuldn't be a stretch to say that he has become an overnight internet sensation.
