How Bigg Boss Tamil 2 & Vijay's films turned Sunday into the busiest day for Tamil TV this Ramzan weekend!

 

As far as television viewership goes, Sundays usually attract the highest number of audience and in times of holiday weekends, when the festival specials are on everywhere you looked, a competition among TV channels could be sensed to attract the viewers to their particular programmes. The by-gone Ramzan weekend was one such time, with yesterday being possibly the busiest Sunday recorded in the Tamil TV industry. 

The highly popular Bigg Boss show and host Kamal Haasan were returning for a second season at 7 PM on Sunday and the pre-show buzz was such that other TV channels had to come up with an equally attractive (if not more) options to lure the audience. So two other major TV players, Sun TV and Zee Tamil were seen airing Tamil Nadu's current favourite actor Vijay's films (Theri, Mersal) at around the same time (6.30 PM). However, airing Vijay's fairly recent hits wasn't enough, for Vijay TV played their biggest card by announcing that last season's most popular contestant, Oviya will be re-entering the Bigg Boss house hours before the show could go on air.

And soon, the twitter handle of Zee Tamil was seen getting busier than ever and they live tweeted throughout the film, even repeat telecasting a song (a trend from olden theatre days) to ensure maximum viewership on TV and a trending status on twitter.

 

 

Soon people were seen making observations, comparisons and memes on this unsaid 'TRP war', all the while being soaked in entertainment.
