The 90th Academy Awards was held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Jimmy Kimmel hosted the show for the second time.
Guillermo del Toro’s fantasy The Shape of Water led the pack with 13 nominations, while Christopher Nolan’s wartime epic Dunkirk came in with eight. Right behind with seven nominations was Martin McDonagh’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Paul Thomas Anderson’s Phantom Thread and the Gary Oldman vehicle Darkest Hour came in with six nominations each. The rest of the category was rounded out by “Call Me by Your Name,” “Get Out,” “Lady Bird,” and “The Post.”
