In Theatres for Week of February 17, 2012

Among the new releases this week, "Kadhalil Sodhapuvadhu Yeppadi" has brought in some sunshine. The number of shows were increased in major metro cities after initial word of mouth translated to ticket sales on Saturday. "Mupphozudum Un Karpanaigal" is expected to show a drop in occupancy levels starting Monday due to predominantly negative reviews. Even though "Ambuli" has above average reviews, the movie has not shown much uptick in our buzz meter. As expected, both critics and viewers have ignored Arjun's "Kaatu Puli". 

Among the previous week releases, "Marina" which emerged as a profitable venture for all, still manages to hold on to the screens. Both the Pongal releases "Nanban" and "Vettai" shows were slashed to limited number of screens this week. The weekly collections are expected to come only in trickles from now on. "Dhoni" showed a sharp decline just after 7 days.

Sonia Agarwal's "Oru Nadigayin Vaakoomoolam" and a swarm of other small movies released last week were promptly removed from all the theatres within a week.
