Movies Releasing This Week

More small movies are swarming the theatres again this week. The audience interest is at the lowest point since the upcoming biggies have not announced their release dates. This is a perfect time when a small movie that manages to generate excellent word of mouth (such as Mounaguru) can make a killing in terms of collections. Unfortunately, that big hit movie is still elusive with Dhoni and Marina failing to sustain audience interests.  Let us see whether one of the 5 movies releasing this Friday can take it all the way.

Mupphozhudum Un Karpanaigal (MUK) is the movie with biggest expectation among the Friday release. Thanks to GV Prakash's trendy songs and Amala Paul. The movie is directed by KO's producer. It is interesting to see whether Adharva Murali can get a foothold in the industry. The response to the trailers and promos could have been better given the shooting at foreign locales. Viewers are waiting for the first day first show report before making plans to book the ticket.

Kadhalil Sodhapavadu Yeppadi (KSY) - Based on the short video with the same title, which kick-started the trend for amateur movie-making is now on big screen. There is more expectations for this movie in Telugu than in Tamil due to Siddarth's star status over there. Usually, one can easily identify which is the primary language for bilingual movies. KSY has successfully masked it so far. But, the fact that Siddarth spending more time in neighboring state for promotions and crew members comparing it to Telugu Hit movie "Happy Days" could make you believe whether the movie is made with Telugu audience in mind even though the concept originated from Tamil.

Ambuli 3D - The movie touted as first stereophonic 3D movie with interesting promos and mystery puzzles have aroused decent level of curiosity during the last weeks. The movie shows shades of "Blairwitch Project" style of making.

Kaatu Puli - This is Arjun's first movie releasing after the Superhit Mankatha. It is shocking to see this movie has absolutely NO awareness/expectations. It has always been a confusion among general public when an Arjun movie releases -- nobody can tell whether it is a bad dubbing movie or a re-release from a vast repository of past flop movies or whether he just plays a guest role in it.

Kaatu Puli's prospects are so bad to the point where even "Udumban" seems to have more expectations compared to Arjun's "Kaatu Puli". That says it all.
