MovieCrow Box Office Report - May 30 to June 1

Debutante director Halitha Shameem's Poovarasam Pee Pee released on May 30 and the movie had received positive reviews from the critics and audience alike. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend (May 30-June 1).

1. Kochadaiiyaan

Rajinikanth's Kochdaiyaan has held on to major screens across the city, but the show count has drastically reduced when compared to first weekend. Also, the occupancy level has taken a dip, which could be because of the massive opening the movie got, as all the movie buffs would have watched the film during the first weekend itself.

2. Yaamirukka Bayamey

In a dramatic turn around, after losing many screens to Rajinikanth's Kochadaiiyaan, the movie got back around 40 screens during last week. Positive word of mouth is doing wonders for the film and it has been already termed as a Hit.

3. Poovarasam Pee Pee

Revolving around a bunch of kids, Poovarasam Pee Pee has got good response from the general public as well the celebrities from the tinsel town who had watched the film. The movie released in limited number of screens, as it wasn't backed by powerful banner. This week will be the key factor in deciding the box office status of the movie.

Other Movies

Vallavanukku Pullum Aayudham is on a downslide, and the shows have been drastically reduced. The movie has only one-fourth of the screens occupied by Yaamirukka Bayamey, which had released during the same week. Malayalam movie Bangalore Days, directed by Anjali Menon has taken a tremendous opening across multiplexes in the city.

Upcoming week's releases

Prakash Raj's trilingual Un Samayal Arayil and Vemal's Manjapai are hitting the screens this weekend (June 6).
