CM Stalin Backs Jana Nayagan, Accuses Centre of Misusing CBFC

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has come out in support of Vijay’s #JanaNayagan amid the ongoing censor controversy. In a strongly worded post on X (formerly Twitter), Stalin stated:

“Along with the CBI, ED, and Income Tax Department, the Censor Board has also become a new weapon of the Union BJP government. Strong condemnation!”

The film, which was slated for a January 9 Pongal release, has been stalled after the CBFC didn't issue a censor certificate. With the matter currently under judicial consideration, the Madras High Court has granted an interim stay against a single judge’s order directing the CBFC to certify the film. The next hearing has been adjourned to January 21.

Amid these developments, it is expected that the producers of JanaNayagan will soon approach the Supreme Court seeking relief. CM Stalin’s statement backing the film and criticizing the censor board has gone viral, drawing widespread attention across political and film circles.
