Ticket bookings for Parasakthi have been put on hold in most theatres across Tamil Nadu as exhibitors await the film’s censor certificate. While the revising committee has cleared the film with a U/A rating, the official certificate is yet to be issued, prompting theatres to temporarily suspend advance bookings. This comes close on the heels of Vijay’s JanaNayagan, which recently ran into a similar censor delay and was subsequently postponed after the makers moved the matter to court.
Directed by Sudha Kongara, Parasakthi stars Sivakarthikeyan in the lead and is slated for release on January 10. The film also features Ravi Mohan, Sreeleela, and Atharvaa, and is a period action drama set in the 1960s. With its backdrop rooted in real-life Tamil political history, the film has been generating strong buzz, making the delay in censor certification a closely watched development ahead of its planned release.
