Tamil film production house Sun Pictures seems to be headed towards an ambitious new chapter, lining up three massive projects titled Jailer 2, DC, and AA22×A6 (tentative title). Each project comes with its own unique mix of talent — from Rajinikanth’s franchise return, to Lokesh Kanagaraj’s acting debut, and Allu Arjun–Deepika Padukone’s first collaboration under Atlee’s direction.
A quick look into what each of these upcoming Sun Pictures' movies entail:
1. Jailer (June 12, 2026)
Starring: Superstar Rajinikanth
 Director: Nelson Dilipkumar
 Music: Anirudh Ravichander
 Language: Tamil
After the 2023 blockbuster Jailer, the dream trio of Rajinikanth, Nelson, and Anirudh Ravichander have reunited for Jailer 2. The announcement teaser dropped earlier this year, confirming Rajinikanth’s return as “Tiger” Muthuvel Pandian — the retired jailer whose brand of justice became a mass-cinema icon.
Production has been underway since March 2025 in Chennai, with Nelson promising a upscaled action in the sequel. While plot details remain under wraps, Anirudh back to deliver the beats, and so are some of the franchise originals like Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, Shivarajkumar among others.
Jailer 2 is scheduled to release on June 12, 2026 in theaters worldwide. This sequel adds names like SJ Suryah, Malayalam actor Suraj Venjaramoodu, Telugu star Nandamuri Balakrishna, Bollywood veteran Mithun Chakraborthy to the original ensemble.

2. DC (2026)
Starring: Lokesh Kanagaraj, Wamiqa Gabbi
 Director: Arun Matheswaran
 Music: Anirudh Ravichander
 Language: Tamil
After the Dhanush starrer action adventure Captain Miller (2024), Sun Pictures and director Arun Matheswaran have teamed up for DC, an action drama that marks director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s acting debut.
Paired opposite Wamiqa Gabbi, Lokesh plays a morally complex protagonist in a gritty, neo-noir setup — the title DC is said to hint at the character’s designation rather than a superhero reference. With Anirudh Ravichander composing the score, the film’s soundscape is expected to blend raw intensity with emotional heft.
DC is shaping up to be the dark horse of Sun Pictures’ upcoming slate — a grounded, high-style Tamil film that could redefine the actor-director crossover space.

3. AA22×A6 (2027)
Starring: Allu Arjun, Deepika Padukone, Mrunal Thakur
 Director: Atlee
 Language: Telugu (Pan-Indian Release)
Moving beyond Tamil cinema, Sun Pictures has also set sights on a massive pan-Indian stage with AA22×A6, an Atlee-directed action spectacle headlined by Allu Arjun, and co-starring Deepika Padukone, and Mrunal Thakur.
Slated for a 2027 release, AA22×A6 marks Atlee’s Telugu directorial debut and his first collaboration with Allu Arjun. The combination of Allu Arjun’s mass charisma, and Deepika Padukone’s national reach positions AA22×A6 as one of India’s most anticipated films.

AA22×A6 is expected to feature large-scale VFX, and a storyline blending high-energy action. If executed right, Jailer 2, DC, and AA22×A6 won’t just be individual hits — they’ll represent a new era where Tamil and Telugu blockbusters coexist under a single banner that’s thinking bigger than ever before.
