D 55 (tentative title) is an upcoming movie of actor Dhanush, which will be directed by Amaran fame Rajkumar Periasamy. The director in a recent interview was all praises for Dhanush, as an actor who tries to keep the filmmaking ecosystem healthy. Sharing his personal experience with Dhanush, Rajkumar Periasamy told a roundtable of directors hosted by Baradwaj Rangan,

"All of us talk about Amaran, all of us talk about the success that it is today, but even, I would say 10--11 months before Amaran released, he (Dhanush) spoke to me and and he was very open to work with me. So that way, the story that I told him also, he really connected to it, and he said 'I'll act'. He had not seen Amaran, he had seen only my previous work, Rangoon (2017 Tamil movie). And he liked the film.

 

Dhanush didn't know that Amaran would become such a blockbuster, for him to agree to act in the story that I would narrate. So I think things like these will keep that (movie making) ecosystem very very healthy. And that way we can expect more of good films with the tier 1 or leading actors in it."

 

D 55 is a production venture of Gopuram Films, and Rajkumar Periasamy has previously stated that the movie will have survival as the theme. An official announcement on D 55 cast and crew is currently awaited. Director Rajkumar's last release Amaran with Sivakarthikeyan is currently gearing up for a digital premiere on Netflix this December 5, after five successful weeks of theatrical run in Tamil Nadu.
