While Vettaiyan is a highly anticiapated Rajinikanth movie on October 10, 2024, meeting the film at the Tamil box-office is the Jiiva, Priya Bhavani Shankar starrer Black, an official remake of the Hollywood sci-fi thriller Coherence (2013). Black movie releases on October 11, 2024.

With few days remaining for both Vettaiyan and Black's release, star actor Jiiva has shown support for Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan by posing with an official merchandise made for Vettaiyan's promotions. Jiiva is also seen making the horn hand gesture, which is synonymous with Rajinikanth as the Baba (2022) symbol. 

Written and directed by James Ward Byrkit, Coherence follows the story of a woman who must deal with strange occurrences following the close passing of a comet. Black, the Coherence remake has been written and directed in Tamil by K.G. Balasubramani. Black Tamil film has Sam CS for music.
