The South Indian Artistes Association (SIAA), colloquially known as the Nadigar Sangam has come out opposing the new regulations issued by the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC), headed by N. Ramasamy alias Murali of Thenandal Studios Limited (TSL).
The TFPC on Monday issued an official statement which revealed that the council had decided upon banning actor Dhanush from signing new movies, until he finishes projects for which he had already taken advance. Notably, Dhanush was signed to do a movie with TSL but the project never happened for reasons unknown.
The Tamil Film Producers Council also announced that no new movie shooting will commence post August 16, 2024 (Friday), and that all ongoing film shooting will come to a halt on November 1, 2024 (Friday) in order to regulate film releases, production costs, salaries among other semantics.
Representing the South Indian Artists Association, which works in tangent with the Tamil Film Producers Council, actor Karthi has now addressed the media stating,
“Typically, the TFPC and Nadigar Sangam reach a mutual agreement when raising a complaint against an actor or producer. However, no complaint was raised with us regarding Dhanush. The sudden decision to ban him is completely unacceptable. We strongly oppose TFPC’s statement. All Tamil film associations should meet to come to a mutual agreement.
Even the decision to stop shooting wasn’t consulted with our organization. Their decision will affect numerous workers, not just actors.”
Actor Karthi's press statement comes in consultation with SIAA chairman Nasser, and secretary actor Vishal. It is worth mentioning here that the TFPC has also announced that going ahead, all Tamil movies will make their digital premiere on OTT platforms, only after 8 weeks of theatrical release.
