Last year actor Silambarasan TR and production banner Vels Film International were fighting it out in the court over whether or not Simbu is obligated to shoot for a film titled Corona Kumar, for which the actor had received an advance of Rs. 1 Cr.

While STR's side argued that Vels Film International did not use the 50 days of call sheet that the actor had allotted, and wasted a year not beginning the movie, the production banner countered that Silambarasan was under a red card notice from film producers' council (lifted in August, 2021), which wouldn't have enabled the actor to begin a new movie without completing the already agreed projects first. 

Silambarasan TR's lawyers however pointed out that even pre-production work of Corona Kumar had not commenced till July 15, 2022, and so the star actor couldn't take up any new work resulting in potential income loss. While this was the case in 2023, MovieCrow learns that Corona Kumar is all set to be revived now with actor Vishnu Vishal playing the lead. 

A spin-off to director Gokul's hit film Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara (2013), Corona Kumar is also written and directed by Gokul. Corona Kumar was first announced in 2020 during the pandemic and has since undergone multiple production house and lead star changes.
