To the Tamil film audience millennial and older, Amaran (1992) is a nostalgic title reminiscent of a Karthik starrer gangster action, that marked the Kollywood debut and only ever Tamil film of legendary Bollywood name - Shammi Kapoor. Amaran (1992) director K Rajeshwar and his 'Navarasa Nayagan' lead had even reunited on Amaran 2 in between 2015-2017 but the film never got to release.
When this famous movie title made a comeback with a Sivakarthikeyan starrer, curiosity lingered around the connection between both productions. Amaran (2024) starring Sivakarthikeyan and produced by Kamal Haasan, is directed by one film old Rajkumar Periyasamy. Rajkumar Periyasamy made his debut with Rangoon (2017) which starred Gautham Karthik, son of 'Navarasa Nayagan' Karthik in the lead.

Rajkumar Periyasamy took to the X platform to explain how his Rangoon lead helped him secure the title of his father's famous movie.
