Actor Dhanush's debut collaboration with director Arun Matheswaraan, the filmmaker who made movies like Rocky (2021) and Saani Kaayidham (2022), is releasing in theaters on January 12, 2024 as Captain Miller. Here are 5 quick reasons to catch the film on the big screen:

1. Genre: Captain Miller is a period actioner that is set during the colonial era in India. However the film's director Arun Matheswaran has said that only 40% of Captain Miller will have the hard-core action typical of his movies. The rest 60% will be drama, giving Dhanush ample scope to perform - which is a space the actor's crowd usually enjoys seeing him in. Given that the movie is coming out during a regional holiday when film living families throng the theaters, this genre mix is perfectly suited to this audience.

2. Story/Plot: Captain Miller is titled after the nom de guerre of Vallipuram Vasanthan, who was the first suicide bomber of the now defunct Tamil separatist organization - the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). The movie has nothing to with LTTE's first 'Black Tiger', but Dhanush's character transformation into a renegade is for similar reasons Vasanthan's, which is to protect the suffering people from the hands of the establishment.

Captain Miller revolves around how Analeesan 'Eesa' Miller goes from being a British-India soldier to taking them on to safeguard the treasure his village has been hiding from the British colonizers. 

3. Cinematic Value: The promotional material released so far in audio, video and other forms, indicate quality artistry in Captain Miller. Be it Siddharth Nuni's cinematography, Dhilip Subbarayan's high octane action, GV Prakash's solid score or the production value as a whole - Captain Miller looks visually promising and overall bang for the buck. 

4. Dhanush & Cast: Dhanush appears in multiple different looks in Captain Miller, and he seamlessly fits into every one of them. The actor also gives off 'at ease' in the promos. This effortless vibe of the lead star in a period action genre, along with a cast that has performers like Priyanka Mohan, Shiva Rajkumar, Sundeep Kishan, John Kokken, Aditi Balan, does paint an interesting picture for the movie.  

5. Promise of a Sequel: One of the Captain Miller cast members who was unveiled last in the film was Aditi Balan. The actress revealed that her role is a cameo in Captain Miller, because the movie will have a sequel which will delve more into her character. The promise of a sequel i.e. Captain Miller 2 does increase the intrigue surrounding Captain Miller.
