OTT This Week: Vaathi, Kuttey, The Whale & More Movies

Movies this week on OTT platforms in India, what each of them are about and where to watch them are listed below: 

 

1. Vaathi/SIR [Netflix]: A Tamil-Telugu bilingual starring Dhanush in the lead, the movie follows the story of a private school teacher, who fights the system for students' education when he is assigned to a neglected public school. Vaathi premieres on March 17, 2023.


2. Black Adam [Amazon Prime Video]: Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's superhero outing, this film is a spin-off to the 2019 film Shazam, and follows the story of Black Adam - a superhero who is born from the dead after thousands of years. Black Adam has been streaming on OTT since March 15, 2023

 

3. Gandhadhagudi [Amazon Prime Video]: Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar’s last film GG: Gandhadagudi – Journey of A True Hero gives a sneak peek into the late actor’s love for nature and native land. Puneeth teams up with and filmmaker/wildlife photographer Amoghavarsha and they set out on a trip in into 7 different wilderness. The docu-feature streams from March 17, 2023.  

 

4. The Magicians' Elephant [Netflix]A determined boy accepts a king's challenge to perform three impossible tasks in exchange for a magical elephant, and the chance to chase his destiny. This animated film adapted from a book of the same name streams from March 17, 2023

 

5. Noise [Netflix]: A Dutch language mystery thriller co-written and directed by  Steffen Geypens, Noise follows the story of Matt, an influencer and young parent to newborn Julius. He discovers a dark secret from his dementing father's past and begins an in-depth investigation into a local factory accident, after moving his family into his childhood home. How his sleuthing unveils dark family secrets forms the rest of this 90 minute movie. Noise streams in India from March 17, 2023

 

6. Kuttey [Netflix]: A multi-starrer with names like Arjun Kapoor, Tabu, Naseeruddin Shah, and Radhika Madan, among others, Kuttey follows the story of three gangs who are all in pursuit of the same loot i.e. crores of money. The Hindi film has been streaming on OTT since March 16, 2023

 

7. The Whale [Sony Liv]: A morbidly obese recluse English instructor is slowly dying and his attempts to reconnect with his estranged daughter, and the reason behind his lifestyle is what this Brendan Fraser starrer psychological drama is all about. The acclaimed movie recently picked up two Oscars including one for its lead actor, and the movie has been streaming in India since March 16, 2023

 

8. Once Upon A Time In Jamali Gudda [Sun Nxt]: A Kannada language romantic adventure drama, the movie is set in the 90s and tells the story of the narrator's uncle (protagonist played by Dhananjaya), his love angle with actress Aditi Prabhudeva, a murder and a prison break. The movie's OTT release date has been officially announced as March 17, 2023.  

 

9. Writer Padmabhushan [Zee 5]: A Telugu language film, the story revolves around Padmabhushan (Suhas), a 25-year-old aspiring writer from a middle class Vijayawada family. The twists that come about after he published his first book and how he overcomes it forms the rest of the movie. Writer Padmabhushan's OTT release date is March 17, 2023, and it also stars Tina Shilaparaj, Rohini, Ashish Vidhyarthi among others. 

 

10. In His Shadow [Netflix]After the death of their father, two half-brothers find themselves on opposite sides of an escalating conflict with tragic consequences. The French language thriller streams in India from March 17, 2023

 

11. Poovan [Zee 5]: The film's OTT release date has been officially announced as March 24, 2023. The Malayalam language film follows the  day to day life of Hari (Antony Varghese), who suffers from terrible insomnia. How his life takes a turn with the arrival of a rooster next door forms the rest of the story. The film is written by Varun Dhara who also plays Hari's friend Febin, and is directed by Vineeth Vasudevan.
