Iru Dhuruvam starring actor Nandha in the lead, is a Tamil crime thriller that was about the hunt for a serial killer who leaves notes that quote verses from the Thirukkural. Season 1 of the Sony Liv original ended on a cliffhanger with Nandha's cop character realizing that the killer had a personal connection to him. The 9-episode series which premiered on September 29, 2019 is finally getting a sequel and Iru Dhuruvam 2 will stream from February 24, 2023.

Actor Prasanna is the latest addition to Season 2, and the trailer showcases that Nandha's Viktor Selladurai character who left the force after his wife was kidnapped and murdered, is called back to investigate what seems to be return of the Thirukkural killer. Prasanna plays a psychologist, and whether or not he is the bad guy remains to be seen.

Iru Dhuruvam Season 1 was written and directed by M Kumaran; Season 2 has been helmed by debutant Arun Prakash.
