Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2 aka PS2 is the Mani Ratnam directed sequel to his 2022 film Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 aka PS1. The film which is a joint production venture of Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions is all set to release in theaters on April 28, 2023. At this time, MovieCrow learns that the first single of PS2 is sung by its composer AR Rahman and is likely to release this month. An official announcement on the PS2 first single release date is however awaited.

Starring 'Chiyaan' Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead, the Ponniyin Selvan movies are based on the late Kalki Krishnamurthy's novel of the same name. The story is considered to be one of Tamil literature's greatest, and follows the fictional tale set in a real life Chola Empire. The titular character Ponniyin Selvan, also known as Raja Raja Chola I went on to become one of the most renowned Kings in Tamil history in real life.
