The Mysterious Benedict Society is an eccentric mystery-adventure English language show, that streams on Disney Plus Hotstar OTT platform. Season 1 premiered on June 25, 2021 and it told an offbeat tale of how four highly capable and oddball orphans, are recruited by a genius scientist (played by the Emmy award winning Tony Hale) for a task way beyond their ages. It was also the highest viewed non-Marvel, non-Star Wars Disney show at that time.

Based on a children's book of the same name, The Mysterious Benedict Society is back with a Season 2, and the first two episodes are out now. Here is quick recap of the episodes and all you need to know about the show: 

Premise / Season 1 Recap

Reynie Muldoon (Mystic Inscho), George "Sticky" Washington (Seth B Carr), Kate Wetherall (Emmy DeOliveira) and the youngest prodigy Constance Contraire (Marta Kessler)  try out for a scholarship to attend a prestigious institution called the Boatwright Academy, only to find out that the whole process was duped by one Mr. Benedict, a scientist who wishes to end the global crisis called "The Emergency". Turns out the crisis was falsely created by Mr. Benedict's evil twin Dr. L.D. Curtain, and the children are tasked with infiltrating the latter's school to put an end to his master-plans. L.D. Curtain is defeated but he manages to escape with his top scientist and adopted kid.

At the end of Season 1, Reynie is adopted by his Tamil-descent teacher Ms. Perumal (Gia Sandhu), who has been a constant source of support to him since his orphanage days [Season 1 even has a scene with them conversing in Tamil]. Constance is adopted by Mr. Benedict himself. Kate is reunited with her dad, who was also one of LD curtain's memory-loss victims, and Sticky enrolls in the Boatwright academy. 

Season 2 (Episodes 1, 2 recap)

Mr. Benedict and his closest and extremely resourceful associate - No. 2 (Kristen Schaal) are now on a Europe trip, planning an elaborate scavenger hunt for the children's reunion. However they are unexpectedly kidnapped by LD Curtain, who has now become famous as 'the man who ended "The Emergency"'. 

While Mr. Benedict's other associate Rhonda (MaameYaa Boafo), and his former associate/Kate's father Milligan (Ryan Hurst) gear up to send the children back home, they learn that the kids have run away to help Mr. Benedict and are following his initial clues to the scavenger hunt. This ends up with the kids on a ship and Ms. Perumal, Rhonda and Milligan chasing after them by sky-travel. 

Season 2: What to Expect

It has been clear from Season 1 that Constance has a special power, and Season 2 is expected to reveal the story behind the same. The beginning of this new season also shows that Dr. LD Curtain threw his chief scientist Dr. Garrison (Treanna Keating) under the bus, to become 'the man who singlehandedly solved "The Emergency"'.  

Further episodes are expected to reveal if she's still a part of his plans, what happened to the new proposal she handed him at the end of Season 1 and where is she and his adopted son now. The trailers of the show reveal that the children do end up infiltrating LD Curtain's new facility as well, and it remains to be seen how they put an end to his evil plans this time around.
