Dhanush starrer Thiruchitrambalam takes huge opening for a Thursday release in Tamil Nadu. The movie which also stars Nithya Menen, Raashi Khanna, Priya Bhavani Shankar easily opened day 1 box-office with a gross of Rs. 7.2 Cr. in Tamil Nadu, that included around Rs. 70 lakh from Chennai city. The movie also saw solid advance bookings on Friday and for the weekend, from good word of mouth.

With this, Dhanush breaks the myth of a star not flourishing in cinemas after continuous releases on OTT platforms. OTT/ theatre debates notwithstanding, Thiruchitrambalam with the general public’s positive talk has only expanded its extraordinary reception in theatres.
