In a recent interview with a film YouTube channel, director Sudha Kongara has revealed that a portion in the second half of Soorarai Pottru, has been removed for its remake starring Akshay Kumar. Sudha says that she felt 'it was jittery' to the narrative and after she had that portion removed, the story seemed to flow smooth.
Jittery narration et al, Soorarai Pottru which released in 2020 directly on Amazon Prime Video OTT platform managed to bag multiple National film awards including for best feature film and best screenplay. The movie's untitled Hindi adaptation will see Suriya play a cameo and Radhika Madan as female lead.
Over the moon to see #SooraraiPottru win the top honours at the National Awards. Heartfelt congratulations my brother @Suriya_offl, #AparrnaBalamurali and my director #SudhaKongara. Humbled to be working in the Hindi adaptation of such an iconic film 🙏🏻

Based on the life of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath and his autobiographical book Simply Fly, Soorarai Pottru tells the tale of an unconventionally ambitious man and his obstacle-filled journey to launch an affordable airline service. While the original movie takes place in South India, the Hindi remake has been moved up North.
