SJ Suryah turned 54 on July 20, 2022 and the occassion of his birthday, it was revealed that the actor is part of Vijay's upcoming movie Varisu and that he has joined the sets for shooting. Varisu (titled Vaarasudu in Telugu) is directed by Tollywood director Vamshi Paidipally and is a production venture of Sri Venkateswara Creations.

SJ Suryah has previously worked with Vijay in the 2000 film Kushi (as director) and shared screen-space with the star in Nanban (2012) and the 2017 film Mersal (as villain). SJ Suryah is also part of director Shankar's upcoming film RC 15 (tentative title), and he plays the CM's son / villain the movie.

The actor is said to have undergone a look test in Amritsar recently and is expected to shoot alongside Ram Charan soon. RC 15 will see SJ Suryah and Ram Charan face-off as a corrupt exchequer siphon and honest IAS officer respectively. RC 15 is also produced by Sri Venkateswara Creations.
