Lost interest in unrealized projects - Kamal Haasan gets candid!

Actor-producer Kamal Haasan is not the one to shy away from taking on big projects in Tamil cinema. This ambition also means that there are one too many projects that are inadvertently left behind owing to financial and other reasons. Kamal Haasan fans have particularly been curious over the years about the actor's unrealized yet promising projects like Marudhanayagam, Sabaash Naidu and Marmayogi among others.

While Kamal had previously stated that Marudhanayagam will be revived with a current generation actor, his latest statement on reviving old films indicate the contrary. Meeting the press post the box-office success of his latest release Vikram, Kamal Haasan shed light on what his plans for the mentioned movies were.

"Vikram's success doesn't mean that I would revive Marmayogi, Marudhanayagam and Sabash Naidu. I want to do something new. To me those projects are old as I've been living with them for a while. would rather say I am disinterested. At the same time, if someone willingly comes forward to make them, I will hand it over..I am at loss because these films didn't see the light of the day. I am upset that I couldn't showcase my skills because they haven't come out,"

It is worth mentioning here that Kamal has also stated that only 35 minutes of Marudhanayagam was shot back in the days [a glimpse here] yet it is revivable without any deletion. The Ulaganayagan's statement regarding Marudhanayagam in particular has come as a little bit of a surprise to his fans, considering the actor stated this while attending the Cannes Film Festival in May, 2022.

"If we have the opportunity to revive Marudhanayagam, I can produce and direct it with another leading actor of this generation in the future. We still discuss very often about this project."
