Coolie Telugu Box-Office: The Nagarjuna Factor Behind Rajinikanth Film's Strong Numbers

Coolie, the Tamil action thriller that released on August 14, 2025 came with a PAN Indian cast specifically to appeal to the different regional audience in India domestically, and the Indian diaspora overseas.

If Aamir Khan's cameo made the Hindi film audience give Coolie: The Powerhouse a watch alongside War 2, the presence of Kannada actors Upendra, and Rachita Ram has worked wonders for the Coolie box-office in Karnataka. Not that Rajinikanth needed help in that state he was born and raised, but all the additional selling points has definitely helped.

Similarly Coolie Telugu is another area where the box-office numbers have been looking strong. Coolie is currently pushing towards a Rs. 500 Cr. worldwide gross, and a whopping Rs. 80 Cr.+ has already been contributed by Coolie Telugu in a span of 11 days.

In the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, Coolie has grossed Rs. 63.8 Cr. in 11 days, whereas in North America, the Coolie Telugu version (dubbed) has brought in Rs. 16. 1 Cr. While Rajinikanth films have always done exceptionally well among the Telugu audience, the presence of star actor Nagarjuna, who for the first time in his four-decade-career has played a villain, is also an undeniable factor behind Coolie's Telugu box-office.

A Sun Pictures production, Coolie is written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj with Anirudh Ravichander for music, and also stars Shruthi Haasan, Sathyaraj—actors who also bring in familiarity for the film's Telugu audience.
