Marudhanayagam will be revived with someone else, says Kamal Haasan

Kamal Haasan's two decade old project Marudhanayagam still evokes curiosity among his audience and after years of trying, Haasan has finally given up on the movie. In a recent interview, the Ulaganayagan has attributed his focus on politics to be the reason behind withdrawing from the film, but has said that his production house Raaj Kamal Films International will be reviving the movie with some other lead.

Origially launched in 1997 by the Queen of England,  Elizabeth II, Marudhanayagam is a period drama on Mohammad Yusuf Khan, an 18th-century warrior. The film went through production hell due to its then estimated budget of Rs. 85 crore and revival rumours about the film hinted last in 2017 when Marudhanayagam posters were displayed at Cannes Film Festival.

Mohammad Yusuf Khan was touted to have pioneered the rebellion against the British Raj way before India’s first war of independence. It is only exciting to see who will get to play the coveted role in the future.
