Did Kamal Haasan flout COVID protocols? TN health secretary answers!

Actor Kamal Haasan who tested COVID-19 positive after a US trip, was discharged from a private hospital in Chennai on December 4 and went straight to the sets of Bigg Boss Tamil for the weekend shoot. This sparked doubts of whether Kamal Haasan did not follow the COVID-19 norms of isolating himself for atleast 7 days post a hospital discharge. [Full discharge policy for COVID-19 here]

Tamil Nadu health secretary Radhakrishnan recently addressed the same in the media and said,

“If international travellers coming in from other countries test negative for Covid-19, we are asking them to stay in home quarantine for 7 days during which time they must self-monitor their condition. We are testing them again on the 8th day after arrival.

But before this started happening, Haasan had recovered and was discharged. So, we have to probe this as a separate case.

We don’t want to confuse people. We want everyone to keep taking vaccines and wear masks. Thankfully, as Haasan was fully vaccinated, he has recovered well.."

It is worth mentioning here that Sri Ramachandra Medical Center, the private hospital where Kamal Haasan was admitted, had officially declared that the actor is fit to resume work from December 4, 2021.
