Besides Samantha's Tamil-speaking character in The Family Man 2 and Tamannaah in November Story, far and few Kollywood stars have made a mark in the web-series space. Navarasa which premieres today on Netflix is about to change that but the series was put together for a charity cause and most of the star-cast have worked on it pro-bono.

Not that Navarasa does not count, but generally Kollywood talent that have utilized the web-series space as a career-option have been far and few; Like Gautham Menon and Ramya Krishnan for Queen (MX Player), Venkat Prabhu, Kajal Aggarwal, Vaibhav, Anandhi and Premgi Amaren for Live Telecast (Disney Plus Hotstar) and Amala Paul in the recently released Telugu series Kudi Yedamaithe. 

However things are changing and the line-up of Tamil stars appearing in mini-series or otherwise looks pretty exciting. Find below the list of Kollywood actors and details of their respective web-series projects:

1. Vijay Sethupathi - Sunny (Amazon Prime Video)

Most experimental actor of the lot, Vijay Sethupathi has tried everything from pay-per-view release (a first for Kollywood) to hosting a TV show, this pandemic era. He is also making his OTT debut with Navarasa today. The actor has one more web-series in his kitty which is a Bollywood production and The Family Man directors Raj and DK are helming it.

The series tentatively titled Sunny is all set to feature on Amazon Prime Video, and Shahid Kapoor and Raashi Khanna play main roles in it. Vijay Sethupathi recently began shooting for the same.

2. Nayanthara - Baahubali: Before The Beginning (Netflix)

Another high profile star who is making her debut into the OTT space, Nayanthara will be seen playing a pivotal role in the prequel to both of S.S. Rajamouli's movies - Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion. The period drama is expected to go on floors by September, 2021.

3. Kavin, Reba Monica John - Akashvaani (Aha Tamil)

Lift actor Kavin of Bigg Boss fame and Bigil actress Reba Monica John will be appearing in a romantic series titled after their characters Akash and Vaani. It is directed by Atlee's former assistant Enoc Able. 

4. Arun Vijay - Tamil Stalkers (Sony Liv)

AVM productions is venturing into the OTT space with a Sony Liv original titled Tamil Stalkers and the series was announced in March this year with Arivazhagan as the director. Arun Vijay is said to be playing lead in it which is 'inspired from real-life film piracy group' and dives deep 'into the dark side of the world of piracy'. 

Tamil Stalkers is expected to release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages.

5. Arya - Unannounced  Project- Amazon Prime Video

Latest in the buzz to appear in a web-series for an OTT platform is actor Arya, and he is said to be teaming up with director Milind Rau of Aval fame. The series is touted to be a thriller and Arya is expected to begin filming soon. An official confirmation awaits.

6. Vadivelu 

Comedian Vadivelu has long spoken about his interest in making OTT debut and it was recently revealed that the actor has been signed by a streaming service for a web-series.
