Suriya, Karthik Subbaraj urge people to condemn Cinematograph Act!

Today, July 2, 2021 is the last day to send in comments about Indian government's controversial proposal of Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, 2021. If the law comes into effect, then the Central government can micromanage the censor board which certifies movies and can remove a film from theater or OTT even after release.

While Vetrimaaran, Kamal Haasan and other Indian film celebrities have voiced disdain for the Bill, Tamil film celebs like actor Suriya and director Karthik Subbaraj shared a link today, urging people to send in their comments to the I&B ministry.

It is worth mentioning here that the government has been trying to autocrat-e the censor of films in India by abolishing FCAT, which once served as the panel where filmmakers could appeal against the CBFC.

If the proposed amendments come into effect, then the makers will have to go to court for every little problem leading to creative and financial pressure.
