Previously we had reported about the objections political parties had raised to the timeline depiction in Karnan. TL;DR the initial title card of Karnan said the story was set in 1997 (Karunaniidhi's regime) but the focal point of the movie which inspired from the Kodiyankulam massacre of 1995 took place during Jayalalithaa's regime.
This made DMK cadres protest against the title card carrying year of events.

1. please clarify about the change of the year from 1995 to 1997 or else
2. change the title card to 1995 or else
3. ask indefinite apologies to DMK cadres . #Karnan
Karnan makers then changed the description to 'events that take place post the 90s', since the movie depicted several incidents belonging to different timelines. Now for the third time within 11 days of the film's run, Karnan title card depicting the year / timeline has been completely removed.
Karnan Title card has been changed for the 3rd time!

It has not been confirmed if the step was taken due to political pressure or not.
