Actress Shruthi Haasan was spotted on Tuesday showing support to her father Kamal Haasan, whose political party Makkal Needhi Maiyam (MNM) is one of the contestants of the Tamil Nadu state assembly elections, 2021.

The twitter handle of the MNM party was also seen sharing several pictures of the father-daughter duo visiting the polling booths in Coimbatore - South where Kamal Haasan contested from.

However, Shruti’s appearance with her father created a controversy as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sought criminal action for her appearance.

BJP's Coimbatore Mahanagar District president R Nandakumar on behalf of BJP candidate Vanathi Srinivasan, filed a complaint with the election officer that Shruthi was an 'unauthorized' polling booth visitor and that her act of 'trespassing' required criminal action.
