Earlier today, actor Kamal Haasan took to Twitter to congratulate Rajinikanth on his Dadasaheb Phalke award which only a handful of Tamil Film celebrities have been honoured with in the past. Kamal Haasan wish read,
"It has been immense pleasure to know that an award as honorary as the Dadasaheb Phalke award has been given to Rajinikanth, the supreme star and a friend I like. The award is 100% appropriate for Rajini, who has proved that one can win over fans just by appearing on screen."
Kamal Haasan is known for taking dignifies sly digs, so a section of the internet started wondering if the last line of his wish was one too [given Rajinikanth's affiliation to the ruling BJP government].
However team Kamal when contacted by the Tamil media quashed any such doubts and said, "In using 'just by appearing on screen', Kamal Sir means that 'Rajinikanth has earned a huge number of fans only with acting, without participation in any other technical things like direction, screenwriting, singing and has now won this award', which is a thing of great pleasure. There is no inner meaning or wrong connotation in this."
