Actor Vijay Sethupathi's upcoming movie 800, which is a biopic based on former international cricketer from Sri Lanka, Muttiah Muralitharan is said to be having a first look, motion poster release on October 13, 2020. 800 is titled after the number of wickets taken by Murali in test cricket, a record which also pegs the spinner as the highest test-wicket taker in the history of the said sport. 

Interestingly Murali achieved this historic feat during a Test match against India in Galle on July 22, 2010. Directed by Sripathy Rangasamy, 800 has Karnan actress Rajisha Vijayan playing female lead and is jointly produced by DAR Motion Pictures and actor Rana Daggubati under his home banner Suresh Productions.

In one of his earlier interviews about the movie, Vijay Sethupathi revealed why he was chosen and how he felt portraying one of the greatest spinners in cricket history. The actor said,

“I don’t even watch cricket. The sport does not make me excited..I have not watched cricket even as a child...I told this to Muttiah Muralitharan sir and he immediately said that is the perfect quality for me to play the role... I'm delighted that Murali himself will be closely involved with the project and guiding me on the cricketing aspects."
