Suriya has finally broken his silence on the public dragging of him and his wife Jyotika by actress and ex-bigg boss contestant Meera Mithun. Responding to Bharathi Raja's open letter on the topic, Suriya thanked the senior director for standing up for him and his family and as per the request in the letter has sent a message to his fans stating, "My desire for my brothers and sisters (referring to his fans) is to use their time and energy towards constructive activities."

Suriya responded to Meera Mithun's statement by quoting his 2018 tweet where he had said, "We need not lower our standards by reacting to sub-standard comments. Spend your time and energy for useful actions. For the benefit of the society.  #AnbaanaFans (Dear Fans)"
