Vikram Kumar, director of Tamil films namely Alai (Simbu), Yaavarum Nalam (Madhavan) and 24 (Suriya) recently stated in an interview that he has been really looking to work with Suriya again. The director went on to say that while he and Suriya have been in touch since the last 3-4 years, the director recently narrated a story to Suriya, which the actor has mostly liked. 

While the script is still a work in progress, Vikram Kumar added that he is keeping 'his fingers crossed for something to come up in 2021'. In the same interview Vikram Kumar also addressed the idea of sequel to 24 by stating that he and Suriya were determined from the beginning that they will make a 24 part 2 'only if there was a good plot and screenplay' and not just for the sake of it.
