When Bollywood director Nitesh Tiwari, famous for writing and directing the Phogat family's biographical sports drama Dangal was casting for Chhichhore (another one of his famous films from 2019), he wanted to audition the Malayalam star actor Nivin Pauly for one of the roles in his movie. However it was revealed during Chhichore's release that stand-up comedian and Telugu actor Navin Polishetty (Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya fame) had instead landed on the role. 

In a hilarious case of mistaken identity, the Mumbai-based Navin Polishetty was asked to send an audition video and upon viewing it,both the Dangal director and his casting director (responsible for the name switch) were confused as to where Nivin Pauly's signature beard/rugged look went (Polishetty usually sports a clean-shaven look).

However, four months later a comedy sketch starring Navin Polishetty went viral online, making Tiwari take notice of the actor and he ended up getting casted as 'Acid', in his now debut Bollywood movie.
