Reel Mudhalvan Meets Real Mudhalvan: Actor Arjun Calls On CM Vijay

Actor Arjun called upon Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Tuesday, and the occasion carried a delightful bit of cinematic irony. Arjun is best remembered for playing a television anchor who steps into the CM's shoes for a day in Shankar's Mudhalvan (1999), making his visit to the real CM's office a moment that did not go unnoticed.

In the film, Arjun's character Pugazhenthi is challenged by the sitting TN CM Aranganathar, played by Raghuvaran, to govern the state for a day after being questioned on his criticism of the administration. The film also starred Manisha Koirala, Manivannan, Vadivelu, Laila, and Vijayakumar, among others. Shankar later remade it in Hindi as Nayak: The Real Hero (2001) with Anil Kapoor stepping into the lead role.

Arjun had already extended his congratulations to Vijay at a press event for his upcoming action drama Blast, praising him for joining a long list of winners. He is next to be seen in Blast alongside Abhirami and Preity Mukhundhan.
