The protests against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 took an ugly turn in Delhi recently and film celebrities from throughout the country are registering their voice against the same. Condemning the police attacks on university students, Tamil actors Siddharth and G.V. Prakash have spoken in favour of democracy and non-violence and have joined the other Indian celebrities to strongly oppose the government.
This has gone too far.. can’t stay silent any longer . This government is clearly fascist .. and it makes me angry to see voices that can actually make a difference stay quiet ..

I strongly condemn the violence that the police have shown in dealing with the students. In a democracy the citizens have the right to peacefully protest.I also condemn any kind of act of destruction of the public properties. Violence is not the solution for anything!

[The last tweet may or may not be a dig at Rajinikanth, who was conferred as the 'Icon of Golden Jubilee' by the Indian government recently. This is the second tweet aimed at the superstar actor after Siddharth's 'Krishna-Arjuna' parody.]
