Vishal's starrer 'Action' directed by Sundar C and Vijay Sethupathi starrer 'Sanga Thamizhan' directed by Vijay Chander hit the screens worldwide on November 15 and 16 respectively. Both the films have bagged mixed response from both audience and critics.
In its opening weekend, Vishal's film has grossed Rs. 5.7 cr in TamilNadu in 3 days whereas Vijay Sethupathi's film has grossed Rs. 4.72 cr in 2 days. Due to poor word of mouth, the occupancy in the theatres have witnessed a sharp decline during the weekdays. Both the films have got average opening in the first 3 days. Despite having a two-day theatrical run, Sanga Thamizhan has performed a little better compared to Action. However with lesser footfalls, the films might end up as below average ventures.
In Chennai city, Action has grossed Rs. 83 lakhs in the opening weekend while Sanga Thamizhan has minted Rs. 66 lakhs.
