Too long and predictable
The film's duration is also quite long with too many needless scenes so for a better flow, urgent trimming is needed. Sanga Thamizhan is a below average mass masala entertainer.(more)

A generic mass hero movie with its story elements only all too familiar.
Sangathamizhan does take its own time to get to its core plot, but until then, it is Vijay Sethupathi and Soori who provide us with humour and hold our interest. Even the romantic track between Murugan and Kamalini is slightly different. And the film doesn't work itself up over the cause it eschews and doesn't come across as preachy or self-righteous. But the weakly written villain characters, with miscast actors who never make us feel like they could be a threat to the protagonist, and the sameness of the stunt scenes pull the film down, leaving it lacking punch.(more)

The film is on the longer side, at more than 2 hours 30 minutes, and the elaborate people suffering sequences towards the second half definitely needs some chopping. The stunt choreography, in general, is over-the-top.(more)

I felt that Vijay Sethupathi must have accepted to perform in this film out of some obligation. Because the film is devoid of any discernible artistic qualities. There are scenes where Sethupathi hardly makes an effort to emote.(more)
